History

Personal History In the earlier days of humanity's exploring past our own universe, after warp drive became more common in use, a system was discovered, and the primary star was named Relec. There were four planets in the system and all of them were geologically noteworthy for their rich ore deposits. It would later be discovered that the planetary compositions of all four allowed for a very profitable and very long-term mining operation.

Only Relec Prime was inhabitable without the use of bio-domes and thus it was colonized, slowly building in size and operation to include numerous races aside from the humans who first discovered it, as well as specialized mining operations on the three other planets.

It would, however, ultimately fall outside of declared Federation space and would end up maintaining a technological level close to that of twentieth century Earth with warp capability, which maintained their trade for the entirely self-sufficient colony. The colony maintains its own schools, legal system, and medical matters, although most things are focused on the mining business. Although not within Federation jurisdiction, the system still maintains trade agreements with many Federation worlds.

Late in 2352, Adina Maddox was born to Doctor Genevieve and Ellis Maddox, a detective with the Lloydton City Police on Relic Prime.

Perhaps the career path she chose later in life was really no surprise, if you knew what careers her parents pursued.

She was a healthy child, although there was always something just a little...off about her. It wasn't that she was slow, far from it. In fact, by the time she was four, it was pretty clear that she was particularly bright. Perhaps not a "genius," but perhaps not far from it either. She attended public school, but she also skipped three grades over the course of her school career. By the time she was entering high school, she was already a little younger than her peers.

If this bothered her, she didn't let it show. She got along with others, although was never really sure she "understood" them. This would persist through her life.

She graduated from high school when she was fifteen, and she already knew what she wanted to do. At least, she was pretty sure. She wanted to be a doctor like her mother, although the "puzzles" that her father solved for his job were just as fascinating.

Her parents decided that while the medical school on Relec Prime was good, it was geared toward those who would treat miners here at home. They wanted her to have the best education possible, so they sent her to live with family back on Earth. Thus Adina, at sixteen, made the long journey by commercial spaceliner to Earth. Once set up with her aunt and uncle, she spent time getting used to her new home with its considerably more-advanced-than-Relec technology.

Adina began college at seventeen, and she thrived. She learned that there were far more specialties available than she'd known of back home, and she learned about forensic science.

It was the best of both worlds, so she dove headlong for it.

In her sixth year--just under a year from graduating, given her extended class load--the Breen attacked Earth. In an unusual residency, she joined the civilian medics that helped those injured by the event. After that, she finished her classes and graduated at twenty-four. From there, she applied to the Federation Security Agency. She was accepted and began two years law enforcement training before being released into the field 2378.

Now at thirty-seven, with just over a decade's experience under her belt, she turns to her next assignment...
